Creating an Art Curriculum for Young Children
Carolyn Lucento
Set up a robust art curriculum that nurtures the whole child in your Montessori environment
PREVIEW
"The children are spending too much time in the art area!"
Here's how that can be a good thing.
You see your students light up when engaged in art activities but you worry that they're not "learning" enough so you find yourself constantly ushering them away from the art shelves towards other curriculum areas.
If this leaves you feeling guilty and conflicted, it may mean that you don't have an art curriculum with a developmentally appropriate rationale behind it that you can put your confidence in.
Let's change that.
This course with Carolyn Lucento will give you:
A Foundation in Montessori Art Education Principles
✦ Understand how art experiences are part of the Montessori approach
✦ Get clarity on how art activities can support other curriculum areas
✦ Use Montessori principles when preparing art activities
Tools to Set Up Your Art Area
✦ Strategies to organize your art shelf and materials
✦ Tips for managing clean-up while encouraging independence
Lesson Plans and Activities
✦ Step-by-step instructions for over 60 art lessons
✦ Developmentally appropriate ways to teach drawing, painting, sculpture, and more
✦ Ways to integrate cultural studies and seasons
Confidence as an Art Educator
✦ Build your knowledge of basic art concepts
✦ Feel equipped to offer engaging art experiences
The art area is not an escape from learning. It is a critical component of the holistic educational experience in an early childhood classroom. Upon completing this course, you will feel more confident offering art activities that educate and satisfy young children's creative impulses. With the foundation of your Montessori training now combined with art education strategies, you'll feel at ease deciding what creative experiences to offer, when to offer them, and why they matter. This course provides the rationale and tools you need in order to feel excited, not apprehensive, about bringing art to life in your prepared environment.
A certificate of completion for 4 Hours is provided. Learn more about certificates here.
